About
I blog a lot.
And, conventional wisdom says that for best SEO and findability, your blog should be focused on a theme. So, over the years I have started and stopped – oh, maybe a dozen blogs all centered on various themes. This became an utter nightmare because, really, I didn’t want a whole blog dedicated to genealogy (for example) – I just wanted to be able to write about it once in awhile if a topic came to mind.
Same with blogging itself – I like to write about it, but I don’t need an entire blog about it. Same with politics, and humor, and current events, and social media, and marketing, and… well you get the idea.
So today, in the interest of implementing my official theme for 2010 (“Smart. Simple. Satisfying.”), I’ve officially told Conventional Wisdom to take a hike.
Here’s why: although I like to write about the above-mentioned topics (and many more), I don’t intend to become your resident guru on any of them. I don’t need my articles about Twitter to land at the top of the search heap, I just occasionally want to say something about Twitter.
What this means for you is simple: subscribe to updates on this blog if you like my writing, if I entertain you, if you vehemently agree or disagree with me, or if you know me and just wonder what I’m thinking about. Don’t subscribe if you’re looking for consistently excellent advice on the topics covered here.
I started this website to be a clearinghouse for all of my online social media profiles. What it has become is the filing cabinet for all my blogging that’s not related to my motorcycle adventures, which are still covered thoroughly in a nice little niche blog over at www.bikerchicknews.com.
And with that, I’m down to just TWO blogs. For me, that’s smart, simple, satisfying!
